Though not everyone with an FASD gets in trouble with the law, research shows that these incidents occur far too frequently. This recorded webinar discusses research on how commonly troubles with the law occurs for people with FASD, and how many of the cognitive difficulties that occur in FASD can lead to problems when interacting with police, attorneys, and judges. Becoming involved with the justice system can be an overwhelming experience both for the person who has been arrested and the family. Steps that the family can take to help navigate this system and minimize the chances of falling through the cracks in the system will are also discussed.

About the presenter:

Dr. Paul Connor is a licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. He specializes in cognitive and behavioral assessments of individuals with a variety of neurological impairments including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), traumatic brain injury, strokes, degenerative disorders, learning disabilities, and attention deficits. Dr. Connor received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, specializing in neuropsychology from Brigham Young University. He completed an internship in clinical psychology and neuropsychology at the Henry Ford Health Systems and a post doctoral fellowship in FASD and neuropsychology at the University of Washington. He is also a faculty member at the University of Washington where he conducts research on FASD
